Make-up removal is a step in the beauty routine that should not be overlooked. But how do you prepare a homemade makeup remover that respects the skin and the eyes? Here are all our recipes!
Whether you no longer have a makeup remover on hand or prefer to opt for a more natural option, it is quite possible to concoct one yourself. It could not be easier ! To make a DIY make-up remover, you will not need a lot of ingredients. The important thing is to choose good products that will suit your skin type.
Vegetable oils, preferably organic, are generally good makeup removers. They are a very good natural option to integrate into your skincare routine. They gently melt the makeup on your face. That of coconut, for example, is ideal for removing all residues of cosmetic products, even mascara and waterproof eyeliner, often difficult to remove.
If you prefer micellar waters, you can simply use a purifying and astringent hydrosol which will be a good natural and powerful makeup remover . Floral waters effectively remove bacteria and impurities from the face. We advise you to choose them without alcohol and organic for more efficiency and to avoid skin irritations.
If you like two-phase formulas, just mix these two products to make an effective makeup remover. The little extra that should not be overlooked is that this type of recipe ensures a zero-waste beauty routine, especially if you use reusable make-up discs.
But which ingredients to choose for a tailor-made treatment? Here are all our tips and advice!
For oily skin
If you have oily skin, witch hazel hydrosol is your best friend! Astringent, purifying and invigorating, it tightens pores and relieves irritations thanks to its soothing action.
For a deep make-up removal, you can make a two-phase formula. It may seem strange to treat oily skin with oil and yet it perfectly removes excess sebum during cleansing. It catches all the impurities to get rid of them without attacking the epidermis. We recommend that of jojoba which nourishes without leaving a greasy film, prevents dehydration and regulates excess sebum . It also has calming, repairing but also regenerating properties that restore the elasticity of the skin and fight against the signs of aging.
To make a good homemade makeup remover, we therefore combine witch hazel floral water with jojoba oil and aloe vera gel. In addition to moisturizing, it purifies and cleanses the epidermis while repairing skin cells and soothing redness and irritation. Then add a few drops of lemon essential oil, astringent, antiseptic and disinfectant. This mixture is ideal for gently removing make-up from the entire face. To make this DIY recipe, preferably choose organic products.
Pour 2 tablespoons of witch hazel floral water, the same amount of jojoba oil and 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel in a small bottle, then add 2 drops of lemon essential oil. Shake well before placing a small amount of this homemade makeup remover on a cotton pad. All you have to do is remove your makeup as usual!
To finish the gentle cleansing, wash your face with a neutral cleansing base before reapplying floral water in a tonic lotion to rebalance the pH of the skin.
For combination skin
A combination skin particularly appreciates grape seed oil . Its high antioxidant content fights the signs of skin aging. In addition to its nourishing action, it regulates excess sebum and does not leave a greasy film.
Green tea, on the other hand, regulates sebum production, protects and soothes the epidermis. It is also rich in antioxidants, which makes it a perfect anti-aging treatment.
Once again, the recipe is easy to make! Combine green tea powder with grapeseed oil and mix well before placing the product on a cotton pad to start removing make-up. Then clean with a neutral cleansing base and restore the skin’s pH with the hydrosol.
