Actress Cloris Leachman dies aged 94


LOS ANGELES – Oscar-winning actress Cloris Leachman has passed away at the age of 94. The American artist died of natural causes, in her sleep, at her home in the coastal town of Encinitas, California, according to her agent Monique Moss announced.

VSloris Leachman had notably won an Oscar for his performance in the role of a woman at home alone in the film The Last Picture Show ( The Last Picture Show ).

Others remember her in her role as Frau Blücher in the film Frankenstein Junior  or for her character of the egocentric neighbor Phyllis in the television series The Mary Tyler Moore Show .

Cloris Leachman could easily interpret characters with completely different styles.

Early in her television career, she appeared as Timmy’s mother in the television series Lassie or as a member of a criminal family in the comedy Crazy Mama .

In a tweet on Twitter, director Mel Brooks pointed to the incredible talent of actress Cloris Leachman, which he called irreplaceable.

Tributes quickly multiplied on social networks.

Actor Steve Martin has claimed that Leachman is one of those great comedy mysteries on both the big and small screens.

People applauded him as he entered and left the stage, noted host Rosie O’Donnell for whom “there was no one else like Cloris.”

“With just one look, she could make you burst into tears or make you laugh out loud,” added Juliet Green, who has long been the actress’ manager.

Cloris Leachman received Emmy awards in 2002 and 2006 for his occasional role on the US show Malcolm in the Middle .

She won eight Emmy statuettes during her career.

In 2008, Cloris Leachman participated in the Dancing With the Stars competition . If she was quickly eliminated from the competition, her presence, her attitude and her costumes made the spectators very happy.
