In the office as at home, anger only causes pain and bitterness. If you tend to get caught up in the storm, here are a few ideas to stay in control and better articulate your frustrations.
1. Change the way you think.
There are two common ways of thinking that can easily backfire.
- One is to constantly contemplate the worst.
- The other is to believe that you, other people, the world and life in general have to constantly measure yourself against certain standards, which only leads to disappointment and frustration.
Stressful thoughts are often the product of irrational beliefs, such as believing that everyone should be like you or thinking that you should be faultless.
- If you can identify this kind of underlying belief, it will be much easier to counter the negative thoughts that end up overwhelming you.
